Descripción

The Atlas Copco ZT 30 is the air-cooled fixed-speed member of the oil-free rotary tooth family, rated at 30 kW / 40 hp and offered in 7.5, 8.6 and 10 bar(e) versions. Free air delivery reaches 76.9 l/s at the 7.5 bar working point. The compression chambers run dry, and the machine carries the TÜV-verified ISO 8573-1 CLASS 0 certificate for total oil content.

Air cooling defines everything around this machine: no water main, no water treatment, no cooling circuit to build. Power, floor space and room ventilation are the only installation requirements. The sections below walk through the rated data at both supply frequencies, the choice between the three pressure versions, the air-cooled design and the builds that integrate air treatment into the ZT 30.

Oil-Free Air Without a Water Main

Workshops, coating cells, laboratories and export projects often stand in buildings where a water circuit simply does not exist, and pulling one in for a single compressor costs more than the machine itself. The ZT 30 answers with a fan-driven cooling design that rejects the heat of compression straight into the room air. Positioning the unit and connecting power is the whole installation.

The fixed-speed drive suits this role. A super premium efficiency IE4 class motor turns the oil-free tooth element through a gear box design selected for extreme reliability. Where the demand profile sits at a steady level, the ZT 30 delivers its certified flow hour after hour without additional control hardware.

The same logic covers mobile and temporary duty. Rental backup units, exhibition installations and export projects move between sites, and a machine that depends only on power and air is the easiest one to relocate. The ZT 30 travels as a complete certified oil-free package: no water hooks to plan, no cooling towers to rent, no treatment plant to size. For a site that starts without infrastructure, the machine shortens the path from delivery to first bar of Class 0 air.

Technical Specifications of the ZT 30

The installed motor power stays at 30 kW / 40 hp across both supply frequencies and all three pressure versions of the ZT 30, and every version shares the frame that measures 2005 mm in length. The 50 Hz data reads as follows.

Datos nominales a 50 Hz

Versión Presión de trabajo (bar(e)) FAD l/s FAD m³/min FAD cfm
ZT 30 – 7.5 7.5 76.9 4.61 162.94
ZT 30 – 8.6 8.6 73.9 4.4 156.6
ZT 30 – 10 10 61.9 3.7 131.2

The sound pressure level at the workstation is 66 dB(A) at 50 Hz. On a 60 Hz supply the 7.5 bar figures stay unchanged while the two higher pressure versions read slightly different values.

Datos nominales a 60 Hz

Versión Presión de trabajo (bar(e)) FAD l/s FAD m³/min FAD cfm
ZT 30 – 7.5 7.5 76.9 4.61 162.94
ZT 30 – 8.6 8.6 76.5 4.6 162.2
ZT 30 – 10 10 61.6 3.7 130.5

The noise level reads 66 dB(A) at 60 Hz as well, so the acoustic footprint of the ZT 30 is identical across regions.

Weight and Dimensions

Build Peso
Without dryer 1200 kg / 2646 lbs
With ID dryer 1300 kg / 2866 lbs
With iMD dryer 1390 kg / 3064 lbs
TYPE Longitud Ancho Altura
ZT 30 (Pack) 2005 mm / 78.9 in 1026 mm / 40.4 in 1880 mm / 74.0 in
ZT 30 (Full Feature) 2005 mm / 78.9 in 1026 mm / 40.4 in 1880 mm / 74.0 in

The official table lists one weight set for the ZT 30 across both supply frequencies, so a plant standard covers 50 Hz and 60 Hz sites with a single line. The frame outline stays the same in Pack and Full Feature scope.

Choosing Between 7.5, 8.6 and 10 Bar

The three pressure versions of the ZT 30 share one frame, one drive train and one control platform. The 7.5 bar version moves the most air and fits general plant networks. The 8.6 bar version adds headroom for distribution losses and longer pipe runs. The 10 bar version serves the consumers that sit above the reach of a standard network: test benches, injection molds and instrument air lines.

Selecting the version therefore follows the highest working pressure in the plant, and the flow band narrows as the pressure climbs from 76.9 l/s down to 61.9 l/s at 10 bar on a 50 Hz supply.

The single-frame concept keeps the decision low-risk. A plant that upgrades its network pressure later moves within the same ZT 30 platform instead of changing the compressor type, and the spare parts and service routines stay identical across the three versions. The three digits in the version name describe the only real difference: the pressure the machine holds at its outlet.

Air-Cooled Thermal Design

An electric motor driven fan generates the cooling air for the oil cooler, the intercooler and the aftercooler inside the ZT 30. Each circuit is built as a sturdy tube and shell exchanger, and the heat of compression leaves through the cooler surfaces into the room. Compressor room ventilation then carries that heat out of the building, which is the one design task the air-cooled concept adds.

The high ambient variant extends the working envelope for hot climates, and the soundproof canopy keeps the 66 dB(A) signature low enough for a place next to the production floor. Where a cooling water network already exists on site, the water-cooled ZR 30 of the same family covers the same certified duty with a lower sound level.

Placement of the ZT 30 rewards a little planning. The fan draws air through the coolers and discharges it at the top of the canopy, so the machine needs free space on the intake side and a room volume that absorbs the rejected heat.

Panels around the frame open for the daily checks and the service positions, and the 2005 mm length keeps the whole envelope inside a single floor tile layout. A compressor that carries its own cooling is also its own best installer: once the room ventilation matches the heat load, the unit runs where it stands.

The Tooth Element and Class 0 Certification

Air passes the inlet filter of the ZT 30 with its integrated blow-off valve, which manages the load and unload regulation, and reaches the first compression stage. The intermediate pressure is cooled in the intercooler, a moisture separation system drains the condensate, and the second stage brings the air to its final pressure before the aftercooler takes over.

The oil-free tooth technology holds a competitive position among dry compression systems in this power range. No oil enters the compression chambers, and the lubrication for the gear train and the bearings runs in a separate circuit. TÜV tested the machine and awarded the ISO 8573-1 CLASS 0 certification for total oil content, the qualification that food, pharmaceutical and electronics plants ask for first.

The split into two stages with an intercooler in between also serves the air quality itself. Cooler air between the stages holds less moisture, and the moisture separation system drains that water before the second stage starts. The ZT 30 therefore sends less condensate into the downstream piping, and the air that reaches the aftercooler arrives at a temperature the final cooling stage can handle efficiently.

Pack, ID and iMD Builds

The Pack build is the ZT 30 in its base scope with the soundproof canopy and the Elektronikon controller. The Full Feature with the ID dryer integrates refrigerant drying for a stable pressure dew point on general plant air. The Full Feature with the iMD drum dryer regenerates with hot compressed air and reaches deep dew points for moisture-sensitive processes, all inside the 2005 × 1026 × 1880 mm frame.

The option list covers the high ambient variant, an integrated dryer bypass, anchor pads, ANSI flanges, a main power isolator switch, anti-condensation heaters and thermistors, an IT variant, a silicone-free rotor for MD service and a test certificate. Availability depends on the chosen configuration.

The choice between the two Full Feature builds follows the dew point the process demands. Paint shops, coating cells and pharmaceutical areas pick the iMD build for its deep pressure dew points, while general manufacturing runs well on the ID build. Both builds move the dryer inside the frame, so the ZT 30 needs no wall space for a separate treatment unit and no piping between the compressor and the dryer.

Elektronikon Control for Fixed-Speed Duty

The Elektronikon monitor carries the load and unload control of the ZT 30 together with algorithms aimed at fixed-speed economics. Delayed Second Stop keeps the starting frequency and the motor temperature under control when demand flickers, the dual pressure band lowers the settings for nights and weekends, and the timer function parks the machine in shutdown windows.

Installations with three or more machines gain from the built-in EQ4i or EQ6i control algorithms, the Equalizer 4.0 sequencer or the Optimizer 4.0 controller. SMARTLINK adds energy reporting and early warnings. Compressors that run 4,000 to 8,000 hours per year convert these control functions into measurable savings across the year.

The control platform also communicates the state of the machine to the people who plan around it. The Elektronikon display shows the operating hours, the service counters and the network pressure in one view, and the digital communication keeps the ZT 30 visible inside a larger control room concept. For a workshop without a dedicated compressor operator, that visibility replaces the walk past the machine with a glance at the screen.

Reseña de 1 para Atlas Copco ZT 30 (Pack FF) Oil-Free Rotary Tooth Air Compressor

  1. Alvaro Pinto –

Our tooling shop moved into a building with no water circuit, and the coating cell still demanded certified oil-free air. The ZT 30 rejects its heat straight into the room air, the 10 bar version runs our high-pressure test bench, and an external dryer matched to our dew point closed the loop. Seadweer confirmed the 10 bar build for the bench and the paperwork arrived with the machine.
