Description

The Atlas Copco GA 90 is the largest fixed speed model of the GA 37-90 Premium line, built to deliver trusted oil-injected screw performance at the lowest investment cost in the class. It pairs a 90 kW motor with a state-of-the-art compression element inside a maintenance-free drive train, and the Full Feature branch integrates a refrigerant dryer into the same package. The versions cover four pressure steps in each frequency, with free air delivery between 216 and 301 l/s depending on the setting.

Where the GA 90 Fits in the Oil-Injected Range

The GA 37-90 Premium segment forms the value tier of the mid-range oil-injected platform, and the GA 90 stands at its top with 90 kW of installed power. The Premium line concentrates the investment where it counts: top-quality materials, a proven screw element and a control system that keeps the machine honest over years of duty. Plants that run a stable, predictable air demand get exactly the output they need without paying for drive technology their load profile does not use, and the same platform carries the GA 30+ to GA 75+ models for those who want the enhanced efficiency package of the Smart performance tier.

Thousands of machines in this duty class run around the world, and the installations concentrate where compressed air works around the clock: general industry, textile mills, food and beverage plants, metal workshops and the process industries. The GA 90 keeps them running in the toughest conditions, from dusty workshops to humid tropical installations.

What Pack and FF Names Cover

Two names describe the branches of the GA 90, and each adds one fact:

  • Pack — the compressor as a complete, tested package ready for an external air treatment setup, with the coolest acquisition cost of the range.
  • FF — Full Feature: the package integrates a refrigerant dryer, so drying happens inside the compressor rather than beside it, with no additional installation work for wires and pipes.

The GA 90 is built in 7.5, 8.5, 10 and 13 bar versions at 50 Hz, and in 100, 125, 150 and 175 psi versions at 60 Hz. Every version combines with both the Pack and the Full Feature scope, so a plant picks the pressure band first and the depth of air treatment second.

Technical Specifications of the GA 90

The table below condenses the GA 90 into its headline figures:

Parameter Value
Installed motor power 90 kW / 125 hp
Working pressure 7.5 / 8.5 / 10 / 13 bar(e) at 50 Hz; 100 / 125 / 150 / 175 psig at 60 Hz
Free air delivery 216 to 301 l/s (458 to 637 cfm)
Noise level 72 dB(A)
Weight, Pack / Full Feature 1520 kg / 1845 kg
Dimensions, Full Feature 1221 mm wide, 2525 mm deep, 1980 mm high

Rated Data at 50 Hz

The 50 Hz versions of the GA 90 cover a four-step pressure ladder, and each step trades flow for pressure:

Working pressure FAD (l/s) FAD (m³/h) FAD (cfm)
7.5 bar(e) 292 1052 619
8.5 bar(e) 277 998 588
10 bar(e) 256 923 543
13 bar(e) 216 779 458

All four versions carry 90 kW / 125 hp of installed motor power and a noise level of 72 dB(A) at the work station. Unit performance is measured according to ISO 1217, Annex C, edition 4:2009, and the FAD is measured at the working pressures of 7 bar for the 7.5 bar versions, 8 bar for the 8.5 bar versions, 9.5 bar for the 10 bar versions and 12.5 bar for the 13 bar versions.

Rated Data at 60 Hz

The 60 Hz versions repeat the ladder in psi ratings, as different machine configurations built for 60 Hz networks:

Working pressure FAD (l/s) FAD (m³/h) FAD (cfm)
100 psig / 7.4 bar(e) 301 1082 637
125 psig / 9.1 bar(e) 278 1000 588
150 psig / 10.8 bar(e) 249 897 528
175 psig / 12.5 bar(e) 223 803 472

All four 60 Hz versions carry 90 kW / 125 hp and the same 72 dB(A) noise level. Unit performance is measured according to ISO 1217, annex E, edition 4:2009, with the same reference conditions of 1 bar absolute inlet pressure and 20°C / 68°F intake air temperature.

Dimensions and Weight

The Pack layout of the GA 90 measures 1221 mm wide, 1680 mm deep and 1980 mm high, and the Full Feature branch extends the depth to 2525 mm for the integrated dryer, with width and height unchanged. The Pack weighs 1520 kg and the Full Feature branch weighs 1845 kg. Both layouts share the same footprint logic of the GA 55 to GA 90 frame family, so the machine slots into a planned compressor room without redesign.

The Premium Drive Train and Element

The drive system of the GA 90 is 100 percent maintenance-free: totally enclosed, protected against dirt and dust, and free of couplings and slippage losses. State-of-the-art hybrid bearings extend the lifetime of the drive train by 33 percent on the GA 55 to GA 90 models. The electric motor carries IE4 Super Premium efficiency on the GA 55 to GA 90, with IP55 protection, insulation class F and temperature rise class B. The drive side bearings run oil-lubricated, and the non-drive side bearing is greased for life.

The standard package is rated for ambient temperatures up to 46°C / 115°F, and the high ambient version extends that to 55°C / 131°F.

Filtration and Cooling

The robust spin-on oil filter removes particles 300 percent smaller than a conventional filter and carries an integrated bypass valve, so a blocked cartridge never starves the element. The heavy-duty air intake filter removes 99.9 percent of dirt particles down to 3 microns, and a differential pressure indicator on the inlet side turns filter condition into a visible signal instead of a guess. For hot and humid climates, the oil cooler and aftercooler of the tropical configuration keep element outlet temperatures low, remove nearly 100 percent of the condensate through an integrated mechanical separator and eliminate thermal shocks in the cooler banks, with no consumables involved.

Full Feature: The Integrated Refrigerant Dryer

The Full Feature branch of the GA 90 integrates a refrigerant dryer sized for the compressor, so no excess energy is spent on oversized air treatment. The pressure dew point reaches 3°C / 37°F at reference conditions, and the dryer consumes 50 percent less energy than a traditional standalone unit of the same duty. The heat exchanger uses cross-flow technology with a low pressure drop, the refrigerant is environmentally friendly with zero ozone depletion, and the no-loss condensate drain removes water without wasting compressed air.

Controlled and monitored by the Elektronikon, the dryer holds the dew point under all circumstances and prevents freezing at low load.

Air Quality with the UD+ Filter

The optional UD+ filter works with the integrated dryer to reach air quality Class 1.4.2 according to ISO 8573-1:2010 with a single cartridge: 0.5 micron dirt particles, 3°C / 37°F water pressure dew point and 0.1 ppm oil concentration. The pressure drop of the UD+ sits 40 percent below the conventional DD+/PD+ two-filter combination, which saves energy and floor space at the same time.

Monitoring and Control

The Elektronikon Touch controller runs the GA 90 and keeps the pressure band where the plant needs it. The controller manages the load and unload pattern of the fixed speed machine, watches the operating temperatures, and stores the service counters that decide the next intervention. The display shows warning indications, machine status online and the maintenance schedule in plain view.

SMARTLINK, OPC UA and Equalizer 4.0

SMARTLINK remote monitoring is standard and reports the operational parameters of the GA 90 in real time, with service alerts, performance data and an online resource center. For plants that run Industry 4.0 networks, OPC UA connectivity integrates the GA 90 into the production system as the first compressor manufacturer to offer the protocol. Where several machines share one header, Equalizer 4.0 manages up to six compressors with a narrow pressure band, equal running hours and actionable efficiency reports.

Options That Extend the Package

  • Energy recovery — up to 75 percent of the electrical input can be recovered as hot air for workshop and hall heating or as hot water for radiators, laundries and process heating.
  • High ambient version — reliable operation up to 55°C / 131°F for hot climates.
  • Tropical thermostat — stabilizes the oil circuit in extreme heat and humidity.
  • UD+ filter — single-cartridge air quality Class 1.4.2 with 40 percent lower pressure drop.
  • Oversized dryer and dryer bypass — a lower pressure dew point for the toughest conditions and a bypass line for service continuity.
  • Pre-filter — protects the cooling package in dusty environments.

Applications of the GA 90

The pressure ladder shapes the application map of the GA 90. The 7.5 and 8.5 bar versions carry general plant air for textiles, food and beverage plants and workshops, where the 292 and 277 l/s outputs feed looms, packaging lines, pneumatic tools and actuators on a single machine. The 10 bar version serves the common industrial standard band, and the 13 bar version reaches the high end of the Premium range for heavy plant air, instrument networks and processes that need the reserve to 13 bar without a booster.

The fixed speed concept suits plants whose air demand sits close to rated output for most of the shift. Loading the GA 90 steadily, pairing it with receiver volume and letting the Elektronikon manage the load and unload pattern keeps the operating cost predictable. Where the demand swings widely across the day, the variable speed models of the same oil-injected range carry that duty instead.

Service and Support Around the GA 90

Service parts are grouped together for ease of access, all components are designed for serviceability, and each component is engineered to halve the service time compared to traditional designs. The spin-on oil filter and the intake cartridge change from the front of the machine, the Elektronikon counts the operating hours that trigger each intervention, and Atlas Copco fluids and lubricants are tailored to the GA 90 with anti-oxidation and anti-foaming additives. Optional service plans cover repairs, preventative maintenance and spare parts.

Seadweer supplies Atlas Copco spare parts and service kits for the installed base of the GA 90 and its Full Feature branches. For the same fixed speed concept in a larger frame, see the Atlas Copco GA 160. Send us the compressor model together with the parts you need, and the correct items are confirmed with the quotation in one pass.

FAQ

Is the GA 90 a fixed speed compressor?

Yes. The GA 90 runs at a fixed motor speed with load and unload control managed by the Elektronikon Touch controller. Variable speed duty belongs to the separate VSD+ models of the same oil-injected range.

Is the GA 90 an oil-injected machine?

Yes. It is an oil-injected rotary screw compressor, and the oil seals and cools the compression element before the separator removes it from the air stream. Oil-free duty belongs to the separate ZR and ZT platforms.

Which pressure versions does the GA 90 come in?

Four at each frequency: 7.5, 8.5, 10 and 13 bar(e) at 50 Hz, and 100, 125, 150 and 175 psig at 60 Hz. The 13 bar version is the high pressure end of the Premium range with the lowest flow of the ladder.

How much air does the GA 90 deliver?

The FAD spans 216 to 301 l/s (458 to 637 cfm) across the four versions and both frequencies. The 100 psig version carries the highest output at 301 l/s, and each step up the pressure ladder trades flow for pressure.

What does FF add to the GA 90?

FF stands for Full Feature: the package integrates a refrigerant dryer with a 3°C / 37°F pressure dew point and no-loss condensate management. The branch adds 845 mm of package depth and 325 kg of weight to the Pack layout.

How loud is the GA 90?

The sound pressure level is 72 dB(A) at the work station across all versions and both frequencies. The value is the A-weighted emission sound pressure level at the work station, determined according to ISO 2151 and ISO 9614.

1 review for Atlas Copco GA 90 (Pack FF) Oil-Injected Rotary Screw Air Compressor

  1. Yasmine El Amrani –

We needed a third machine for the main header and the budget was set. The GA 90 delivered the flow our dyeing line consumes at 8.5 bar, it starts every morning with the shift and runs until the last batch leaves the line. The Elektronikon screen keeps the service counters in plain view, the oil filter change takes one person a few minutes, and nothing in the first year has asked for attention beyond the scheduled items. Seadweer confirmed the service kit list for our setting before the first service came due.
