The ZR 200 is the water-cooled fixed speed machine of the Atlas Copco ZR/ZT 110-275 range, and it carries the Z series oil-free screw tradition into the 200 kW class. Two branches cover this platform: the ZR branch rejects the heat of compression through a water circuit, and the ZT branch does the same job with air. Plants that already run a cooling water main, or that plan central heat recovery, choose the ZR 200 for exactly that reason.
Where the ZR 200 Sits in the Oil-Free Range
Two Branches, One Platform
The ZR 200 sits one step above the ZR 160 and one step below the ZR 250 inside the fixed speed branch of the family. The installed motor power rises to 200 kW, and the free air delivery rises with it to 602.1 l/s at the 7.5 bar working point. The same frame family also feeds the VSD branch further up the line, so a plant that mixes fixed speed and VSD machines keeps one service concept across the compressor room.
The choice between the two branches is an installation decision, not a performance ranking. The ZR 200 needs a cooling water connection and hands back a package that is shorter and quieter in the room. The ZT 200 needs no water main at all and trades that for a longer frame and a higher sound level. Both branches carry the same oil-free air end, the same Class 0 certification and the same control system.
The step from the ZR 160 to the ZR 200 adds a full output band to the room. The ZR 160 tops out at 472.2 l/s, while the ZR 200 reaches 602.1 l/s at the same 7.5 bar working point. One step further up, the ZR 250 delivers 717.6 l/s from the same platform logic.
A plant that expects its air demand to grow can therefore install the ZR 200 today and add a ZR 250 beside it later. The same water side, the same control philosophy and the same spare parts logic apply across the row. Growth in the air demand thus becomes a compressor room question instead of a rebuild.

The 7 bar version tops the whole series at 575.1 l/s (1,219 cfm). The noise level is the A-weighted emission sound pressure level at the work station, measured according to ISO 2151: 2004 using ISO 9614/2, with a total uncertainty value of 3 dB(A).

No foundations are required for either build. The package installs directly on the flat floor of the compressor room, and the water-cooled layout keeps the width at 1,650 mm even in the dryer-equipped frame, so the ZR 200 passes standard door openings and aisles during installation.

Zero Risk of Contamination
The ZR 200 carries the ISO 8573-1 CLASS 0 (2010) certification, the strictest oil purity class in the industry. Atlas Copco commissioned the TÜV institute to type-test the oil-free range, and the tests measured all possible oil forms across a range of temperatures and pressures without finding traces of oil in the output air stream. For a food, pharmaceutical, electronics or paint application, that certification removes the contamination risk from the air quality equation.
The certification matters most where a single oil trace would spoil a batch. Fermentation, packaging, filling and capping, cleaning and instrument air all draw directly from the compressor room in a food or beverage plant. The ZR 200 serves these loads with 100% oil-free air, so the air quality argument never reaches the end product. Water Cooling and Heat Recovery
The water-cooled design of the ZR 200 rejects the heat of compression into the water circuit instead of the room air. That keeps the compressor room cooler, removes the need for large ventilation openings, and opens the road to heat recovery: the recovered heat can serve boiler feed pre-heating, process water or space heating elsewhere in the plant. Water cooling also stabilises the element temperature across seasons, which supports the long service intervals of the machine.
Full Feature: The Integrated Adsorption Dryer
The Full Feature build of the ZR 200 integrates the adsorption dryer inside the compressor package. The drying module regenerates with the heat of compression, so no external instrument air and no separate dryer installation are needed on site. The integrated design is wired, piped and tested in the factory, which shortens the commissioning time and removes the interface risk between two separate machines. The Standard build remains available for plants that already run a central dryer station.
The integrated concept extends to the rest of the package. Internal piping, coolers, motor, lubrication and the control system all come assembled in one frame, so the ZR 200 arrives as a ready-to-use unit. Installation is fault-free and commissioning time is low, because the site work reduces to the power connection, the water side and the air outlet. Plants describe this as plug and run: the compressor room is finished in days instead of weeks.

The ZR 200 runs on the Elektronikon controller, which manages the pressure band, protects the machine and logs the service data.
