Descripción
El 1092002973 es el oil cooler that Atlas Copco supplies for the oil circuit of an oil-injected screw compressor. The official record names the part OIL COOLER, and the unit is the heat exchanger that brings the lubricant back to its working temperature before it returns to the screw element. Every 1092002973 supplied is a complete cooler, ready to take the position of the unit it replaces.
In an oil-injected screw compressor the oil does three jobs at once: it seals the rotor clearance, it carries heat away from the compression chamber, and it lubricates the bearings and the element. The 1092002973 handles the second of those jobs by passing the hot oil through its core, where the heat leaves the oil circuit before the oil goes back into the machine.
The cooler is ordered as one part number against the compressor it belongs to. A machine file that records the part number alongside the model and serial number is therefore all a workshop needs to renew the position in one pass, and the 1092002973 is matched against that record before the order is placed.

What the Oil Cooler Does in the Oil Circuit
Hot oil leaves the compressor sump and passes through the 1092002973 on its way back to the element. Inside the core the oil gives up its heat to the cooling medium flowing on the other side of the tube walls, and the oil that returns to the machine is cool enough to seal, lubricate and carry the next round of compression heat.
The working temperature of the oil is the reason this part exists. When the cooler is doing its job, the oil entering the element stays inside the band the machine was designed around, the thermostat routes the flow as intended, and the discharge temperature of the package stays steady through a long loaded shift. A 1092002973 that has lost capacity shows up first as an oil temperature that climbs under a familiar load.
The Heat Path Through the Core
The photographs of the 1092002973 show cylindrical copper tube bundles held between circular end plates, with a series of spacer discs along the length of the tubes. The copper tubes form the wall between the two circuits, and the discs hold the bundle in position and guide the flow across it. That construction puts a large metal surface into a compact core, which is what lets the cooler move the heat of a compressor out of the oil.
The end plates close the bundle and carry the connections to the oil circuit of the machine. Because the 1092002973 is fitted as one assembly, the ports and the mounting faces are the interfaces the fitter works with, and both are protected from the moment the unit is received until it is presented to the machine.
Construction Visible on the Unit
Looking at the 1092002973 from the outside, the first thing that stands out is the copper tube bundle: a dense array of straight tubes running the length of the core, held in a round frame. Circular end plates cap both ends of the bundle, and the spacer discs are visible as a repeating series of rings down the outside of the tubes.
The copper colour of the tubes and the silver tone of the end plates and discs make the two materials easy to tell apart in the photographs. Nothing on the 1092002973 needs adjustment before fitting; the assembly arrives with its tube bundle, end plates and ports in place as one unit.
That same construction sets the handling rule for the part. The tube walls and the end plate joints are the surfaces that keep the oil circuit separate from the cooling circuit, so the 1092002973 is kept clear of knocks and stacked nothing on top of it while it waits for the planned stop.

Dimensions, Weight and Handling
El 1092002973 measures 380 × 280 × 70 mm and weighs 5 kg. The third figure is the thickness of the flat core rather than a standing height, which is the shape a plate-style cooler of this size takes when it sits in the machine.
At 5 kg the unit is a one-person lift with normal workshop handling, and the 380 × 280 mm face is the surface to protect while it moves. A flat, dry shelf with the ports covered is all the 1092002973 needs between goods-in and fitment.
The compact depth is also what makes the part straightforward to place in the compressor package. The cooler sits in the bay the machine was built with, and the oil lines meet the ports on the end plates without adaptation when the 1092002973 is the part specified for that position.

When the Cooler Is Renewed
A cooler is renewed on condition rather than on the calendar. Oil temperature that rises under a load the machine used to carry, a visible leak at a port or an end plate joint, damage to the tube bundle, or a restriction that shows up as a pressure difference across the oil circuit are the signs that put the 1092002973 on the maintenance plan.
Recorded at a fixed interval, the oil temperature and the condition of the core turn that decision into a trend. A workshop that keeps those readings in the machine file can book the 1092002973 and the stop together, instead of reacting to a high-temperature trip on a loaded machine.
On the day of the change, the oil circuit is drained as required, the lines are removed from the ports with their positions noted, and the old core is lifted out of its bay. The 1092002973 is presented to the same mounts and the same lines, and the joints are sealed before the circuit is refilled. The first loaded run is watched against the oil temperature recorded for the old unit.
Identification and Ordering
Two pieces of information lock the order: the number on the cooler being replaced, which reads 1092002973, and the model and serial number from the compressor nameplate. The serial number matters because the parts list for that machine names the cooler built into its oil circuit.
Send both to Seadweer and the parts desk confirms the fitment in one pass, without a second round of questions. Where the old label has worn away, the machine nameplate is enough on its own, because the parts list for the serial settles the match.
Plants that run several machines keep the model, the serial and the cooler number together in one record per machine. That record is what turns the next renewal of the 1092002973 into a single confirmed message, and it keeps the dimensions of the core with the part number for the next fitter.

Preguntas frecuentes
What is the 1092002973 used for?
El 1092002973 is the oil cooler in the oil circuit of an oil-injected screw compressor. It removes the heat the oil carries out of the compression chamber before the lubricant returns to the screw element.
What are the dimensions and weight of the cooler?
El 1092002973 measures 380 × 280 × 70 mm and weighs 5 kg. The 70 mm figure is the thickness of the flat core, and the 380 × 280 mm face is the surface to protect during handling.
Why is the third dimension called thickness?
The core of the 1092002973 is a flat assembly rather than a standing box, so its smallest figure describes the depth of that assembly. Length, width and thickness together give the space the cooler needs in the machine bay.
What does the tube bundle look like?
The photographs of the 1092002973 show cylindrical copper tube bundles between circular end plates, with spacer discs along the length of the tubes. The unit arrives as one complete assembly with its ports in place.
What signs show that the oil cooler needs renewal?
Rising oil temperature under a familiar load, a leak at a port or an end plate joint, damage to the tube bundle, or a restriction across the oil circuit are the signs that put the 1092002973 on the plan. Recorded readings turn those signs into a trend.
How do I order a replacement cooler?
Read the number on the cooler being replaced, which reads 1092002973, and note the model and serial number from the compressor nameplate. Send both to Seadweer and the fitment is confirmed before the order is placed.

Dinesh Iyer –
Oil temperature on one of our compressors had been climbing through the shift, and the cooler was the part we decided to change. We sent a photograph of the old unit’s label with the machine model and serial number, and the reply came back with the 1092002973 confirmed for that position. The new core was a direct fit on the original connections, and the temperature reading settled back into its normal band on the first loaded run. We have kept the dimensions and the part number together in the machine file since then.
